My Adhesions Journey

Welcome! In 2017, I was introduced through an ER visit and NG tube to the world of adhesions. It has been a constant struggle since then. I have spent countless hours researching and trying various methods to help my “gremlins” from taking over my life from the inside.

This site is meant to be a starting point for those who have abdominal adhesions. I am not a doctor. I do not have the answers. What I do have is my personal experiences and the ability to throw these on the internet via a website. Abdominal adhesions are different for everyone. There is no “one size fixes all” solution. I have also found that what works for me for a time might not continue to work.

Adhesions are basically bands of scar tissue that can form after trauma – generally a surgery. In 1998, I was involved in a serious car accident that resulted in emergency surgery to resection bowels that had been cut by a seatbelt. I also had to have an L4/L5 spinal fusion few weeks later when they discovered that my spine had been dislocated in the accident. Later in life, I had my gallbladder removed and two c-sections (one was an emergency one). Although adhesions can’t be seen right now through most traditional diagnostic imaging methods, several doctors have agreed that adhesions are my issue.
