For some reason, travel makes my adhesions worse. Whether it is sitting in one position, the change in diet, or something else that triggers me. Here is what works for me:
- We leave after my “problem time” of the day when possible.
- I sometimes take my Therabody ball with me in the car and place it behind me.
- I try to avoid eating while we are on the road. While my family eats, I walk. Then I get a smoothie or something liquid when we get back on the road.
My favorite vacations right now are cruises. There are toilets on board. I’m not really big on the offshore excursions – I don’t want to be stuck on the side of the road in a third-world country with my pants around my ankles. . .
My favorite places to use the restroom while on the road? Definitely not gas stations! Standing in line so I can then “blow up” a single unit bathroom? That isn’t kind to me or the rest of humanity. Here is a list of my current favorite places to stop:
- Hotel Lobbies
- Grocery Stores
- Malls or Department Stores (if you can still find one)
- Old Navy (usually always by the dressing rooms)
I also love camping! My new dream is to convert an old Ford Transit cargo van and have a bathroom in the back for absolute daytime emergencies. Nothing fancy. Probably just a portable toilet without the need of water or electrical components. Can you imagine the freedom? No more living in fear of crapping my pants on the road. No more thick pads for “just in case”.
