Low Fodmap Diet

Of all the diets, this one was most promising and helped somewhat for a short time. The problem is that it is nearly impossible to follow. It is an elimination diet for IBS sufferers and isn’t meant to be permanent. Basically, you are getting rid of all foods that cause the gut issues. The Monash Institute ranks foods. There are certain fruits and vegetables you can have and others you can’t. No onion, garlic, gluten, or fake sugars. I’ve tried it twice. There is even an amazing app to help you while shopping. For me, bowel functions improve for a week or so, and then it just stops working for me. When I am having flare-ups, I try to limit high Fodmap foods.
